Please know that the Law Offices of Bawden & Kochis remain able to assist you during the temporary Stay at Home Order and social distancing recommendations. If you have a Family Law matter that you wish to pursue at this time, here is how we will assist you under our current conditions:
All consultation appointments are being conducted via telephone. Once you call and a telephonic appointment is scheduled for you, the questionnaire that you would normally come into our office and schedule will be sent to you via email. At the time of returning your completed questionnaire via email, you are encouraged to also scan and send copies of any existing orders; documents you have been served with; or any other documentation you may wish to refer to or have Attorneys Kochis or Bawden review with you during your 45 minute consultation appointment. When you call at the appointed consultation time, the $100.00 consultation fee will be collected just prior to being connected with any Attorney for the consultation appointment. Should you wish to retain our firm following your consultation appointment, your retainer fee can also be paid via credit or debit card. All credit or debit card payment receipts are also forwarded to you via email for your signature and return. Should you choose to retain our firm, your Retainer Agreement can also be emailed to you for your review; signature; and return. An further telephone appointment is also available, if needed, at the time you sign your Retainer Agreement.
As you may or may not be aware, all San Bernardino County Courthouses are only operational, and available to the public, for matters deemed by the Court to be emergency matters. Receiving a court date for, or appearing for, any non-emergency matter is being deferred for at least the month of April. Likewise, only emergency-based pleadings are being processed at this time. Our office, however, continues to prepare any pleadings needed for any active case and the documents are fully prepared to be forwarded to the Court for filing on the first possible day processing all documents through the Court resumes. Our Attorneys will discuss the plan on filing all documents with each client on a case-by-case basis, as well as any special instructions related to documents which require service upon the opposing party.
Remember, the above office and court procedures are only in place temporarily. Once we are able to return to work and conducting business as usual is re-implemented, the Court will be inundated with no less than a month’s worth of filing from all law offices in any given County. It is, therefore, recommended that, if at all possible, prepare any needed and/or necessary court documents now so that they are ready to be forwarded to Court for processing as soon as the current restrictions are lifted.
Please also remember that there continues to exist emergency and immediate relief for issues involving Domestic Violence and child abuse. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions regarding these issues.
Stay safe; stay healthy; and do not hesitate to call upon the Law Office of Bawden & Kochis if we may be of assistance to you during this time.
